Job Description
The Sr. Manager / AGM – NPD is responsible for managing and executing new product development activities within the foundry. This role involves coordination with cross-functional teams including Design, Tool Room, Production, Quality, and Purchase to ensure successful development, trial, and commercialization of new cast components. The incumbent will play a key role in driving innovation, process optimization, and customer satisfaction through effective management of new product introduction projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. New Product Development (NPD)
- Lead new casting development activities from feasibility study to successful production approval.
- Coordinate with customers, pattern shop, simulation, quality, and foundry teams for smooth product development.
- Ensure successful trials and first-time-right development of castings.
- Support design validation, process development, and customer requirements.
2. Process Optimization & Yield Improvement
- Improve casting yield through optimization of gating, risering, and process parameters.
- Drive initiatives to reduce metal consumption, improve productivity, and enhance process efficiency.
- Support cost reduction through material and process optimization.
- Implement continuous improvement projects to enhance casting performance.
3. Defect Reduction & Quality Improvement
- Analyze casting defects and identify root causes.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce development rejections.
- Work closely with Quality and Production teams to achieve defect-free castings.
- Utilize simulation and process analysis tools to improve casting quality and reliability.
4. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate with customers, pattern makers, foundry operations, quality, and machining teams.
- Monitor development progress and ensure timely closure of open issues.
- Facilitate effective communication among all stakeholders involved in product development.
5. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain development records, trial reports, and rejection analysis data.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications, quality requirements, and PPAP documentation.
- Prepare and update development-related reports and technical documentation.
- Support audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
